How do wrinkles begin?
It’s not from sleepless nights, not from exhaustion, not even from stress.
We don’t think about them when we’re young.
They speak to us of character, behavior, temperament.
It’s not the passing of time or too much sun,
nor from skipping the cream.
It’s not about age, not about pressure,
nor about expressing myself as I am.
They come from emotions, feelings, and adventures.
Not from anger, not from laughter,
jumping, running, and certainly not from crying.
They’re the ones that draw our story.
In them lives my mother’s charm,
my father’s strength, my grandfather’s passion.
They are my armor, my clothing. A suit I wear with pride.
A symbol of my time, my life, and my courage.
They are the evolution of my being.
Because I have danced, loved, embraced.
I’ve enjoyed my days — even if they leave a wrinkle behind.
And I’ve understood that, at a certain age, not doing it at my age,
is the biggest waste of all.
